Joseph, Thomas, Nathan, and Robert Lesley moved to Coweta County Georgia from Abbeville, South Carolina in 1838. They appear to be siblings. Evidence seems to point to two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Lessley McDill and Jane Lessley Kennedy. Joseph was married to Mary Rebecca Wilson and Thomas was married to Susan Wilson. Thomas, Robert, and their sister Mary McDill moved to Coosa County, AL in the 1840's to1850's. After the Civil War, Joseph, Mary Rebecca, and their daughters moved to New Edinburg, Arkansas. Leaving behind his widowed daughter-in-law, Frances Hunter Leslie. I am descended from Frances Hunter Leslie. My branch of the family tree changed the spelling of their name to Leslie during the Civil War.
In 1860, Elizabeth and Isabella Lesley were living with Joseph Leslie and family (1860 and 1870 Coweta County Census). In 1850 Elizabeth and Isabella Leslie were living with William Leslie in Abbeville, County South Carolina. This connects Joseph Leslie to William Leslie. I do not know how they are related.
I would love to share information about this family with any cousins. I am so close to getting just one more generation back. All clues help!
